FlashMobs

Culture Hacking Projects

Location: Myer Center Food Court

Agents: 8-10

Agents are placed around the upper food court in the Myer center. The lead agent/s (I think a couple would work better to make it louder) would yell out "Hey Wally!" (in unison) and stand up on their chairs waving to the escalators that head down to target/maccas/kfc area. They might yell a few times, and keep waving as if they are calling out to someone to come on over(like someone trying to find someone in the crowd at the BDO).

After the 2nd yell another agent "spots wally" except that they are off to the left this time, again getting up on their chair and yelling "no wally over here".

Another agent gets up except this time they yell and point in the opposite direction making it seem like wally is everywhere.

Someone walking past the first agent then jumps up on a garden and calls out to wally.

Another agent or group of agents then yell out. Everyone around the foodcourt is spotting wally. He is very popular. Agents start adding directions. "He's in the lift, he's by the Chinese, he's eating a burger"

Then the location comes into play. An agent standing on the floor above shouts down to the food court. "Oi guys, wally is up here' All agents look up, but shrug and just sit down and continue eating/talking. This could be continued up the floors but i'm not sure how well it could be heard. Obviously with lots of people yelling out to wally one after another the general crowd may shut it but being so high up it might not be heard. I think just ending after one floor would do.

For comical value a single person should then walk into the food court...2-3mins after all agents have sat down in a red and white striped shirt. Nothing out of the ordinary but just order some food and sit down in the middle of where it all happened. Maybe a group of wally's if you wanted to make it more obvious. Obviously this group has to make it like they just walked in and have no idea of what just went on.

We obviously want a mission which can involve the large majority of us, but I don't see why we can't involve everyone in this idea. And definately a group of wallys at the end... since they were supposedly spotted everywhere.

I don't know if this is where the Flashmob group really wants to head to at the moment though. Its a bit theatrical which is something we'd prob consider further down the track when we've down some really epic one's to get us noticed. (Kinda like how the chasers first started out with simple pranks then turned to the theatrical ones like annoying the PM and If life was a musical)

I like it. Could get big if the wallies followed the main crys for a bit.

there'll have to be a standard wally costume - hair dyed this black, with tese glasses, and this shirt shoes and jeans only :D

I swear one of the Festival Towers receptionist dudes could pull off the wally look so well!

yeah- we'd have to find one costume that all the wallys can wear- but we should have all sorts of people playing wally- male, female, adults, kids- a whole "wally family" of sorts

There are so many things we can do with Where's Wally. For example, we could have 1 person dressed up as Where's Wally and have him/her situated someone with tons of people while the rest of us (As many as possible) after a bit of wandering around asking "Have you seen Wally?" and possibly having some of the actual books, we have one person go "I found Wally!" and we all (If we have tons of people it would be hilarious) chase Wally down the road or something.

Just imagine a video of someone dressed up fully as Wally being chased by an angry horde?

Also, we could have tons of us dressed up as Wally acting very conspicuous and paranoid. :o

hmmm, 100 wallies all standing in the mall looking paranoid, or even better just a few hiding behind poles, bins and generaly trying not to be seen while people with huge binoculars scour the streets for him, asking people if they have seen wally.

At a pre aranged time somebody could shout There HE IS! and then onto the angry horde part.

And than have the Wallies and the 'finders' battle!

Okay, maybe not..

i'd go that.
just ninja battle.
like in south park where they have the psychic ninja battles.
ahahah :D

Or an epic Pirates vs Ninjas vs Robots battle! We can be crazy like they are in the news crew battle in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. :D

ILOVEEEE the idea of this!
just walking around aimlessly asking EVERYONE if they've seen wally.

but the best part is.
chasing him down the street LOL!.
and just be like.

WE'VE FOUND WALLY!!.
that'd be FUN ahahahah.

I agree. If we end up doing this, we definately have to chase him down at the end! >:D

I don't much like the isolated yelling across the food court, but actually having someone come in dressed as Wally at the end would make that so worthwhile.
I love the idea of the group of paranoid Wallys and the 'finders' just randomly asking people. Obviously it will be a big joke even for passers-by, but how awesome :-)
There could easily be a 'reveal' of wally/wallys if people were wearing something over the red and white stripes and just took off the top layer at the set time.
